First time I used this company. I needed some LED lights for a 1/8 scale car build but didn't know what type or size to choose.Their website is more like an educator- providing all the features, benefits,etc. of each type of light, making the right choice much easier. I narrowed it down to 2 choices and decided to e-mail the company for suggestions. They were very helpful at helping me make my final selection. It was a custom order to boot! I especially like their web feature which suggests if you're buying product "x" you might consider that product "Y" is compatible with your selection. I received the product quickly and well packaged. I intend to use this company for future purchases and highly recommend them.

Building model kits is a new hobby for me. I have an engineering background but I quickly realized that soldering tiny little smd LEDs to magnet wire was not very much fun. Who knew? I am so glad I found Evans Design. The prewired smd LEDS and the miniature connectors are well made and can even help simplify ambitious lighting projects.

I bought a fire Pico LED light set to use in a figure display. I know nothing about model lighting, but I didn't have to! Everything I needed was in the kit, and it works amazingly well! The snap and switch setup was foolproof, the lights are unbelievably tiny and bright, and the flicker effect is amazing! Expect more orders when I think up more extraordinary backdrops!

Before I found Evan Designs I was buying lighting LEDs from a local electronics store or from eBay. I was reading a post from Bob Martin at The Nautilus Drydocks about lighting the Disney Nautilus. I found the Evan Designs website and since then I have bought almost all of my LED lighting from Evan Designs. I have used the Mega, Nano and Pico in model lighting because the wires, resistors and LEDs are assembled. All I need to do is put them in place and power them. I purchased the 1/18 police car light kit a few years back, it was so easy to install. I would recommend Evan designs to anyone lighting models.

I drilled a small hole in the roof of my n scale Tichy water tank, inserted the bulb and cemented it in place. It works and looks great. All of the structures on my layout have Evan Design lights with more to come. I am a little short on electrical knowledge but Evan makes it easy. Great product line.

I needed some flashing LEDs that were small enough for plastic name badges, and which did not require external electronics to flash them. These LEDs were perfect for the application, and they can be operated from two-3volt watch batteries in series, which can be mounted on the back of the badge. Exactly what I needed.

Great lights. Smaller than I expected. Used the realistic FIRE light for the DIY DIE HARD ORNAMENT. Gives the ornament a great LIVING ZIPPO LIGHTER affect. Used the WELDING lights to give my airsoft loadout an ELECTRICAL SHORT CIRCUIT on a piece of gear on the back of my plate carrier. I am still working on options for the KNIGHT RIDER lights. But I only regret not buying more. Shipping was fast and I definitely plan on making more purchases.

Very impressive siren! I was concerned about it being "9v" as my rc cars are 7.2v, and step-down power through a bec from there. i was able to get it hooked up on my 1/14 scale radio controlled Adam 12 car by mounting the switch to a servo and tapping it at the board for rx voltage. Works beautifully.

Thanks to Evan Designs, they made my layouts come alive. I have constantly called them and described what I was trying to do, and Evan has always been spot on. I was sent a replacement LED without asking! I was able to replace the one with the broken resister. I included a picture of my project, a string of square, porcelain lamps.

Amazing customer service and shipped with speed. I've custom lit 3 models with their lights so far and have 3 more planned. Modeltrainsoftware is a great resource for model makers to add that extra wow factor to your models. I had a light's resistor come loose and they immediately sent me a new replacement light and tube to repair the broken one. I recommend them to any model builder in my youtube videos.

I used the led's in a series of small ceramic lamps (2 3/4 in 2 3/4 in box shape) made of translucent porcelain. These were strung like Christmas lights with 2 chips per lamp. They worked great except one wire separated at the resistor. I kinda/sorta got it reconnected, but it is intermittent.

My wife and I lead a STEM science club for elementary school kids. We have been designing and building mechanical puppets over the last 12 weeks. One boy decided he wanted electric eyes rather than mechanical ones. We screwed around with this problem for 3 weeks and still didn’t have a good solution. I found Evan Designs while looking for led bulbs with lead wires. The bulbs we ordered were here in a couple of days - in time to get the eyes fixed for the final week of the project. Urijah was very pleased with the way his puppet turned out, and we found a great supplier for an electrical unit we will teach next fall!

I did a quick build of some boxes/crates to see the appearance, and, it was great. These items will look nice in the mid to deep range on my On30 layout. They look just as good as any cast/metal item I have used.

I can't begin to say how pleased I am with the products and service offered by the folks at Evans Designs.From the order process to their customer follow-up to the speedy delivery, it's been amazing.
After a 30-odd-year break from modeling, I decided to jump right back in with the Polar Lights 1:350 Enterprise refit. Alas, I figured I'd better test my building skills with a "test project" and jumped into building a 1:24 scale diorama to compliment the Greenlight 1:24 die cast Bluesmobile.
I thought the alley scene would be perfect (The CTA Transformer room where Jake and Elwood park the Bluesmobile) and set out to scratch-build the entire scene. Evans Designs were there along the way for lighting and advise. Long story, I think it turned out fairly well and it's sure cool to look at all lite up. Could use some practice at building to scale but it was a fun project.

Model Train Software is a class-act company with classy products - at a great price. They have a fine range of LED components and associated power supplies that opened up my world of model railroading. Before discovering MTS, I was wasting time and getting frustrated with trying to solder minuscule copper wire to miniscule LEDs. When at first I ordered a small batch of MTS's LEDs and tried them out, I knew right way.........that these were going to work out great and that I could realize some dream projects that I could accomplish. So I went for it and ordered a lot more. On the customer service front - they are at the top of my list! There was issue that arose, that came from my newbie understanding of how LEDs work. I emailed them about my issues and a prompt back-and-forth interaction came my way. Shelley straightened me out on my misconceptions on LED technology and it had a very happy ending. Have started using various sizes of LED's with bridge rectifier built in for lighting my locomotives, and I enjoy not having to wire in an appropriate resistor as it is included in the circuitry. It also makes it easier to not worry about positive and negative leads (–,+) in the wiring. Thanks for geat products.

Since website was updated it has become difficult to locate some of he new or unusual products as they do not appear on the pages you would expect, for instance the new sequence flasher does not appear under wire,switch and more but under Hobby LEDs ? The same for the new Pink LEDs ! Other than that the service is excellent, staff is helpful with enquiries and delivery speedy and well packaged. Not had any problems with any product.

Hello!
I just wanted to thank you for your quick service. I think I placed my order maybe last Friday, and it arrived today. Very impressive, especially with free shipping. The LEDs I ordered are going to be perfect for their tasks. I will be using them to light a Graupner radio control jet boat. It will have running, anchor and towing lights (3mm LEDs); scene lights (chip LEDs); and a flashing light bar (flashing nano LEDs). The sizes of all of the lights fit the housings I have for them perfectly, and the wiring is so ridiculously thin that I'm rethinking how I will be able to wire it. I expect to be ordering more LEDs in the future for another project, and will keep you in mind for my kids’ school projects as well.
Incidentally, I also looked at your printable buildings...very impressive!

These products have been transformative on my layout. I ordered the 4-led array to embed between rails in my staging yard -- visible only on a video monitor. I will be able to tell which tracks are occupied because the train will cover the LED on that line. I contacted Evans Designs to see if I could have the wires leading to individual LEDs lengthened to span my track. "Absolutely," came the reply. They are custom wiring these LEDs to fit my needs! I just purchased several leds from Evan designs. It was my first purchase. Everything arrived quickly, in good condition, properly labeled, and with appropriate instructions. I quickly tried some of them out and the LEDS work well. The breathing led works fantastically, serving with the right cadence for a signal beacon (as opposed to Other flashing leds that turn on and off too quickly). Shopping is easy and the shipping terms are more than reasonable. A question I had about which power supply to purchase was answered quickly. I also received a coupon for my next purchase that’s hard to ignore (they know what they’re doing). So far I am very pleased with the products as well as the shopping experience. I wish other hobby retailers would take note and follow their lead (looking at you, Micro-Mark).

First off, you helped me with what lights and power sources to get with my first order so I didn't have to jump into the deep end alone.
Second, I have yet to place an order with you guys that has not shown up at least a day earlier than expected! (Makes it sort of like Christmas:)
And third, I totally screwed up my order by ordering the wrong volt lights to go with my coin cell holders. So what do you guys do? You catch my screw up, write to ask me if I knew I screwed up, change the lights to the ones I need and still get my order here a day early!

This was my second purchase with Modeltrainsoftware.com and I have been very happy with both purchases. The lights are extremely easy to use and even someone with no electrical or wiring background should not have any major problems. I ordered some of the pico lights this time and I was nervous because of their extremely small nature which made them feel a little delicate however they were able to withstand my clumsy hands without any issues and are surprisingly bright and look amazing on my project. My previous purchase was of the 3mm bulbs which were extremely durable and only broke due to excessive bending and twisting of the wires at the base of the bulb. They also arrived both times in the mail very quickly without any issues. These lights are perfect for models of just about any type and add a special "wow" factor which impresses everyone I show them to.

This merchant is a GREAT place to shop if you are looking for LED's and that type of electronics. That's the only experience I've had with them. I remember a few years back that I was having some lighting issues with a locomotive, and they were very helpful offering their advise on hoe I could resolve the problem, which it did.
I always try to remember them if I need those kind of things.
I recently purchased some very small shrink tubing, that I couldn't locate anywhere else. And their pricing is very fare

I purchased two five LED packs. Worked beautifully. I put together THE GENERAL steam engine and lit it up! I placed one in the forward light, the engineer's station, one underneath the steam engine and one underneath the tender car.
