Steam engine train model
" I solder the 3 volt LED's to the 19 volt rectifier with LED to make a pair of lamps. I then place heat shrink back on the terminals for insulation. I have been using your pico size LED's in that way but am only recently aware of the smaller Z size. Our local hobby shop (Intercity Trains & Hobbies in Langley BC) does not carry the "Z" size. I use these LED's for classification lights on my HO scale steam locomotives. In the photo they are the tiny lamps on the upper front. of the locomotive. I use the pico for the headlight." ~ Anthony C.
This model is lit up by our LEDs. The LEDs skillfully soldered 3-volt LEDs to a 19-volt rectifier, resulting in the creation of lamps for their HO scale locomotive, complete with insulation provided by heat shrink. While our Pico-sized LEDs are typically used for the headlight, the smaller 'Z' size LEDs, not locally available, have been uncovered and are employed to illuminate the locomotive's tiny classification lights on the upper front.
