An old Marx 490 locomotive I repaired and when it came to installing a light bulb I went with your 5mm LED. A couple wraps of electrical tape to snug the LED in the light portal and one lead under the brush plate mounting nut and the other I drilled and tapped into the original bulb socket. I love how it looks!
